
Samir Geagea biography
Samir Geagea (سمير جعجع),born October 25, 1952 is the leader and commander of the right wing Lebanese Forces (LF) political party.
Samir Geagea was born in 1952 in the Ain Roumaneh in a modest family. Samir Geagea's father was an adjutant in the Lebanese Army. Samir Geagea studied medicine at American University of Beirut (AUB).
After the outbreak of civil war in 1975, Samir Geagea interrupted his studies in AUB to effectivly participate in the defense of Christian towns and villages from Palestinian attacks.
In the year 1994, Samir Geagea was accused to give order the bombing of "Saydet Al-Najet" church and the assassination of some famous Lebanese politicians during the civil war such as Dany Chamoun and the Prime Minister Rachid Karameh.
Samir Geagea was found guilty in murdering the prime minister Rachid Karameh and was found innocent in bombing of "Saydet Al-Najet" church.
Samir Geagea stayed 11 years in prison and was released in the year 2005 after the assassination of prime minister Rafic Hariri.
Samir Geagea is currently one of the leaders of the Cedar Revolution that won the majority in the 2005 parliamentary elections and active member of March 14 Alliance alongside Saad Hariri, Walid Jounblat ,Sheikh Amine Gemayel and sheik Boutros Harb.
Samir Geagea is known informally amongst his followers as Hakim (حكيم) . His wife Sitrida Geagea played a big political role during the period of the Samir Geagea prison.
